Welcome Jane,

The last I heard the only weird or stupid question around here is the one that someone didn't ask

So ... I am hoping to get to the mouse later today or tomorrow morning. We had a weekend so packed that I think I missed when Saturday became Sunday.

Hi Susan,
I've been following the progress on the acorn. You are expaining everything very well. I'm like Jane I've started carving at christmas and now I'm moving into woodburning to help out with the details.
I'm very happy your trying the detailer because that is the one I have decided to get in the near future. On average how long does it take to finish a project like the one your working on?

Hey Sawmedic!

I am loving my detailer, it has just worked to perfection in everything I have asked. I just got in a replacement cord that is 16 Gauge, one step up from the one preattached to the burner, that I am going to give a try. And two interchangeable tip pens so we can see how they preform.

On average a burning like this or a landscape styled burning will take me about one day's work or less. It can be hard to judge because I seldom get an entire day without other tasks that need attention.

When I have worked a burning I usually set it somewhere in the studio where I can stand back and just look at it for a few more days. This lets me think through each of the areas and see what might need just a little more attention to finish off the work.

Right now it is taking about 4 to 5 times longer between getting the camera setting right, taking photos and then the working up the step-by-step. There is much more time spent for me trying to 'tell' you what I just did then to actually do it ...

So, please be patient as I am going to get this finished and posted.

Susan, I have enjoyed this turorial you've been so gratious to write for all of us. I was wondering if my web browser was messing up or is the last post on this thread on page 13 #127?

Have you covered burning the mouse yet? Did I miss it somewhere in the posts?

Hi, Susan--

You meant "KR" (as indicated on the photo) rather than "KB" (as you typed in the text), correct?

Looking forward to the mouse fur step. Very generous of you to devote all of this time to these lessons.

Can you tell us why you chose the Detailer model from the Colwood lineup, and are you still happy that's the model you chose?
