Default #6 Done - A Griffin

Okay, #6 is done and this is one of Susan Irish's patterns, (thank you Susan). I did this one once before when I first started wood burning as a gift for my mom. This is for a 10 year old girl who loves fantasy stuff, "especially" Griffins. Although you can't see it in the picture I used a sparkle overlay to add something extra to the feathers and the main part of the body. For the eye I used a pearl paint and then put sparkle on top of it. This has been done on a basswood box and the balance of paint is water colour and water colour pencils.

Thanks for looking and letting me share this journey.

Linda

Linda, that is really nice! The feathers have so much depth to them.....cool! You must have spent many hours on this project. Once again, good work!

Micky, thank you. Right now I'm burning at least 2 - 3 hours a day during the week and spending my entire weekends burning so I get these all done in time for them to be enjoyed. This one was a fun project and quite a bit easier than the animal faces I've done and got going so it was almost a break, plus I got to use some fun colours.

Boy! Am I dumb! I never knew that those were called "Griffins." Now I'll really show my ignorance. What's a Griffin. Beside that it looks pretty good. I'm sure that your friend will treasure it. I have a grand daughter that likes Unicorns. Now I do know what a unicorn is.

Hi Eddy,

Sorry I forgot to answer your question on a Griffin - a griffin is a mystical creature that is part Lion & part Dragon - at least that's my definition and I thinks that right - but hey I could stand to be corrected.
