I don't think he checks his email very often. He may do so more often in the winter. He's got a class coming up this fall at his shop on Grandfather Mountain. Great location...... Also, you may want to look in the different carving magazines as they will have upcoming teaching schedules. Better yet, call him (or his wife Nancy) and ask about a schedule. He also gives one-on-one classes. He'll be in Charlotte during the weekend of February 17-19th for the Charlotte Woodcarvers Showcase. |

If someone has more time (and knowledge about Tom Wolfe and other prolific carvers) than I do, perhaps they could add a more thorough description of his accomplishments at Wikipedia which can be edited by anyone with an account. I personally don't have an account so I'm not sure about the in's and out's but it seems like a good idea. I met Tom and his wife back in the mid-'80's when he carved and presented a 12' totem pole to our educational organization and I used to frequent his carving store when it was at Mystery Hill, NC. I also always enjoyed talking to him at the state fair but I've been pretty much out of touch during the last 15 years. He was one of my greatest inspirations back "in the day" and his books did a LOT for my carving education! Presently listed carvers: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Categor...an_woodcarvers Tom Wolfe listing: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tom_Wolfe_%28woodcarver%29 I love Wikipedia and use it nearly every day to research stuff and it's all free!
