Default Tom Wolfe/Gary Falin

If anyone is interested in attending a class with Tom and Gary let me know and I can get you signed up.

It is August 17-21 with 2.5 days with each carver.

The cost is $375.

It's on Grandfather Mountain at Tom's shop and museum.

They need 10-12 carvers for the class and have a few already signed up.

If you have any questions, feel free to put them here.

Mitch

Great opportunity! I'm not able to nail down my schedule that far in advance at this point, but I'd love to have more info and be put on a call list closer to the date and see if it's possible to make it!

Sounding ignorant, but is there a web site where we can see their work?
I'm not familiar with either of them, or their styles and have searched on google to a confused state instead of finding more info.
Also, where exactly is Grandfather Mt?
Thanks,
Thor
Seriously interested in finding a good, afordable workshop.

Thor, Frank is correct about the location. Tom's shop is on top of Grandfather Mountain which is famous for it's "swinging bridge". It is very scenic.

Both Tom and Gary are in the CCA - Gary was just elected in. Tom is one of the "original" caricature carvers.

I'll post a few pic's of their work as soon as I can get them downloaded.

PS. you can look in the recent carving magazines that had the results of the last CCA competition (if you have them) and see Gary's work....he won quite a few awards.

Makenchips - I'll send you some info. on how to get into contact with Tom. Gary does travel more frequently for classes. His schedule is usually posted in the magazines. I may be able to get more and let you know.

Ack..
I'd LOVE to take this class but wont be able to .
I work as an RBT (Radio Broadcast Technician) for Voice of America in Washington and had to select our vacation weeks last spring. I have the week AFTER this class off but wont be able to change it. We're allowed only 2 staffers off per week and those two slots for that week have been long gone...

I've taken a class from both Tom and Gary before and would not hesitate to take another from either again. Mitchell, if you'd be so kind to send me that information as well, I'd really appreciate it. Perhaps if there is a class like this next year, I'd be able to make it

Thanks to Rocket39 for the reminder.....

I finally got a few of the photos of some of Tom's and Gary's work posted on my gallery. I also included a few of my carvings from their guidance. I have more to come later.....

If anyone should have the time and would be interested in the class by Tom and Gary, let me know. If you have any questions let me know and I can get you in contact with Tom.
