Not too many carving books are written in this style of carving .. but you have the best teacher ..

The godfathers of flat plane like C. O. Trygg and others still have their work sold on e-bay and in estate sales ..

Look on little shavers woodcarving site and he shows you alot of flat plane work ...

Google flat plane carving and see the web sites that have it ..

One other book on Scandinavian caricature carving is Caricature Wood Carving with Gold medalist Gerald Ekern. ISBN 0-9711830-0-7 published in 2001. Spiral bound 105 pages, including patterns, instructions and tips.
I'm not sure who carries this book.
Gerald passed away a couple of years ago so I don't know how available the book is, check with your local woodcarving supply store, you might also try The Woodcraft Shop 2724 State Street
1-800-397-2278 Bettendorf, IA 52722 , they still have it listed. Don't expect any other Woodcraft stores to have it , the owner Big Dog and his store are one of a kind.

Look at Mike Bloomquist here;

Wooden Dreams Woodcarving

He teaches the style. His Santa DVD is very good, I have not seen the other.
He also did a supplemental tutorial here;

Smiling Eyes, Flat Plane Style

on carving flat plane eyes.

I think he is a very good teacher.

Our Friend Gene Messer was being very modest when he did not mention his own incredible tutorials on this board as well as his fantastic video tutorials on YouTube.

On YouTube search for whittler0507.

Even though he hasn't yet, Gene should write a book on this subject as well.

I am a beginner and Gene's tutorials and videos have been great learning tools for me.

Cheers.
