Hugh yes I believe that it is. I had the same problem with mine and sent it to them an it came back working just fine. Also for those of you that dont know they will retip your burning pens with your choice of tips for I believe it is $5.00 a pen. They are great people to deal with great a prompt service. Colin

The upgrade is a standard service for us, available to anyone with one of our older 3 amp units. We charge $30.00CAD including shipping (& taxes if applicable), including most minor repairs like replacing a jack, or an LED or two. As was mentioned in a previous message, we do re-tip Razertip pens for $5.00CAD including return shipping; we also re-tip pretty much any brand of non-Razertip pens for only $7.00CAD. All of our re-tips carry a full unconditional 6 month guaranty. We can re-tip the pen with the same tip as original, or we can install a different tip (there are some limitations). We accept payment by VISA, Mastercard, or American Express as well as cheques. Our address is available from our website, or you can call us on our toll-free line at 1-877-729-3787 if you have questions. We recommend mailing the unit to our PO box. If you are in the USA, please mark the box "woodburning tool being returned to manufacturer for repair". That way we won't incur customs charges. Any other questions - post them or give us a call! Hey, I just got my burner back from Razertip and it works great now. In fact it has never worked this well. The upgrade was well worth the money. And thanks for fixing the connection problem. Thanks Cam! |

Hey Cam....I have a simple question, what should I use to glue the foam to the shaft of my pens. The foam collar that came on them slides up and down the shaft and can be awkward when you are using the pen. I want to glue them in place, to keep them from sliding. Bob

Normally the grips should be snug. I'm guessing that the grip you are referring to is one that you've had for a while; a few years ago we got a shipment of grips that were a bit on the loose side - not super loose but they could slide easily along the pen body. This was before our new ventilated pens and we remedied the "loose" grips by installing a 1/2" long piece of heat-shrink tubing over the pen barrel. This kept the grip from moving unless the user deliberately moved it, and it can be easily cut-off when you get a new, more snug-fitting grip. Personally I don't recommend gluing the grip on; I like to have the option of sliding it back when I need to get the pen into more confined areas. If you want to secure it you could try installing a small piece of heat-shrink tubing or wrapping a bit of teflon tape around the pen barrel to make it a bit thicker, and then sliding the grip over the tape or heat-shrink. We would also be happy to send you a new grip (or more if needed) that should fit more securely. If you really want to glue it down, I would suggest a small dob of silicone glue.

I'll try the teflon tape first, and see it that does it. Thanks, Bob

I have a Razertip SS-D (s/n: 00638) which I have not used in years. It is like new. Now that my kids are out of the house I plan to spend more time woodcarving & burning once again. How can I order new assorted tips?
