Greetings everyone. One of my goals for the message board is for it to become THE place to go on the Web for woodcarving. To accomplish this, I'm working with as many Fox Chapel Publishing authors and Wood Carving Illustrated contributers as possible to go Beyond the Books and Magazines. Setting up a specific thread for Ian Norbury has been successful, and I'm pleased to announce that several other authors have agreed to be a Web resource for us if you have any questions. I'll be setting up specific threads for each of them in the next few days! If you have any questions, let me know! Bob Duncan Wood Carving Illustrated Last edited by BobD; 04-18-2005 at 09:57 AM. |

Sounds like a great idea. How about that Armand LaMontagne fella. I sure would like to ask him a few things, like how does he paint those eyes like he does? (WCI Spring/Summer 1999; WCI Spring/Summer 1998.)

Bob, It sounds like an outstanding idea. I just wish this forum had been around when I was starting out...sure would have saved a lot of time and energy. I think it is so awesome that professional carvers of the caliber we see here (and now consider them our friends) are willing to provide this service to newer carvers (and some of us old-timers, too.) I know it takes quite a bit of time away from their carving efforts but it is so valuable. Thanks so much, Bob, for constantly looking for ways to improve and expand something that has been great from the git-go! Donna_T

BobD-i agree with DonnaT, it is an excellent idea, and like DonnaT i wish i would have been tuned into the board when i started out.iwould have been probably a little farther along.living in a area that does not offer a lot to a carver the more resources that are available on the board the more i can pick peoples brain. i should point out there are some people on this board that have helped me out to get beyong some tech diff. and the information and hints from the messages while not needed at the moment have been noted for future. thanks Bob for a great job&thanks to all you friendly and giving fellow carvers. Frank

BobD, I agree with everyone. Sounds like a great idea. it's pretty neat to know that a pro would take time from their busy schedule for this. |

I think tris forum is a great idea. I own books on carving by many authors. I have 3 of Rosalyn Leach Daisey, I bought one from her at one of the two wildfowl carving shows held within 40miles of my home. But nothing would beat answers to questions you have from the person who wrote the book. I take a 3 hour class ,one ight aweek for 12 weeks. Given by an outstanding bird carver, who is an outstanding teacher. But there are other ways of doing the same things done by other people. I waited along while for Lori Corbett's new songbird carving book to hit the streets after it was first talked about in WCI. The wait and increased cost were well worth it. Reading it through the 2ed time. Took it to my class last week and passed it around. Got rave reviews by Jerry (teacher) and all the class. Last night at class, one of the other students had already ordered and recived his own copy. I will be sure to tell him about this forum, where can get an answer if he needs it. I know I will be using it in the furture. Which WCI contributing authors can we reach through this forum at this time? I know Lora S. Irish ( SUSAN ) is here all the time. Duncan |

Duncan, If you look at the lower left section of the screen, you should see "Display options." Click on the "From the" and choose "Beginning." It will bring up a list of the authors you can ask questions of at this time. I've attached a file to illustrate what I mean. If there are others you have questions for, feel free to post them here; if they are not posting at this time, I'll see if I can't get a response for you. Hi Ron! Try this link Author's Q&A I just expanded the link since it looks like Bob's attachment is still pending approval. How I did it: Directly under the Forum Threads is an area on the left side that reads "Display Options" There you'll see three text boxes The 1st says "Sorted by" The 2nd box is the one you want...it says "From the". Click the arrow on the text box and it opens up an expanded menu. Choose the option "Beginning" Then click the button that says "Show Threads" and that will open up the forum with all the Topics from the first posted Topic Thread to the last. Each Author/Contributor has their own thread. Hope this helps! I was going to take a screen shot, but if Bob has to wait for approval, then for sure I wouldn't be able to post an image. So I did my best to describe it to you. ![]() PS: Woodcarver55555 (Duncan)...thank you very much!
