I haven't been very active in the forums here, but I'm sad to here of Whitecree's demise.

I especially enjoyed some of his stories.

For instance this one by Whitecree

Never a camera
on hand when you need one.

I walk everyday, sometimes up to 8 or 9 miles. Just wandering around because I like to walk.

Bright and early this morning - even before the first coffee of the day, and maybe that explains why I didn't bring a camera - I walked from one end of my little village to the other where the community wharf is. I like early mornings at the wharf because it is quiet, the only noise being the water as the tide rises or falls.

I notice as I approach the wharf and eagle sitting in a hemlock tree growing close to the breakwater. He really looks like he is enjoying himself, making the branch bob up and down, for all the world like a little kid on a teeter-totter.

Come to think of it, it was a juvenile with a nice speckled pattern.

As I am watching this youngster play, my feet continue on in autopilot mode, carrying me further out onto the wharf. A motion in the corner of my eye catches my attention and I stop dead, lost in admiration.

Poppa eagle is perched on the railing not 10 feet away.

He was clearly giving me the once over, body language saying "One step closer, buddy, and I'm gone!" So I performed a fairly adequate imitation of a stone, but internally I am raging and cussing myself out for not bringing my camera.

We stood like that, me a stone, Poppa Eagle watching the world all around him, for a good fifteen minutes. He then spotted what he was waiting for, and flew off.

WAAAAAAHHH!!!!

Maybe if I staple the camera strap to my forehead...

Dick, it is exactly stories and posts like those that will keep his memory alive on the message board.

I personally will try to keep this thread "alive" from time to time, but if I forget . . .

I'm pleased to see this thread continue. White Cree's post were interesting, and I've thought of him often, he left a space that can only be filled with his memories.
