Default We've lost a friend-Curtis Gibbs

I just heard from Charlotte and I'm sad to let you know that Curtis Gibbs aka...Santagibbs and Big Un... died last night. We'll miss him and his fantastic carvings and lively sense of humor. Our thoughts are prayers go to his family, especially his wife, whom we love equally.

Donna (Here's Charlotte's note.)

Dearest Donna, Big Un passed away last night around ten thirty.. You are the first one I have told on the message board, as I was too devastated and tired to go to the computer.. He had struggled so much to get his breath and I was feeling his pain for him that I just didn't think I could take anymore.. He just let go and went to be with his sweet Jesus.. Everyone has been just too wonderful to him on the message board . We just couldn't imagine how kind and thoughtful they were.. Oh, I pray that the Lord will bless each one that was so very very thoughtful. Thank you so much for caring and I will always cherish the little angel you sent him and it will be a constant reminder of all the love that you sent to him...
May God bless you always, Love, Charlotte

I also heard from Charlotte this morning, my condolences go out also to the family on the passing of Curtis. My only regret is that the post office was too slow to deliver the carving I sent to him. May he rest in peace we will never forget him and his wonderful carving.
Colin

I regret I didn't have a chance to finish my carving for him! I send positive thought out to his family in their time of need!

I'm betting that where he's at now they keep him supplied with the best carving wood and the sharpest kives ever, God loves art too. Mike

For me, that is the hardest part of being a woodcarver; most of my good friends are older and every year I lose one or more of them.

I still prefer to spend what time I do have with carvers.

Charlotte, I regret never meeting Curtis; but consider him a friend.

God Bless

Charlotte, my prayers go out to you, your family, and other visiting relatives and friends. Like many other members of this board, I have never met you nor Curtis, but feel like I've known you all my life.

I thank you both for the contributions you have given me, your direction, advice, and help, will always be cherished.

I too received an email with the news and corresponded with Charlotte via email..seems some times that bad things happen to good people but we will all meet again in the next life.....the Israelites have a saying that I may misquote, but goes something like" when someone dies, we are all diminished" I think that maybe explains the feeling I have over Curtis' passing even tho I never met him personally either....but I do know from emails that this was a very fine gentleman that will be sorely missed!

Like you Dave, I thought immediately of that quote, I wasn't sure where it was from but it describes what I feel, whether it's someone I know and love, to what I feel when hearing of tragedy on the news.

I am dimminshed by the loss of such a fine person, but so happy for this crazy internet that gave me the opportunity to meet the kind, wonderful, talented Gibbs family! My deepest sympathies, thoughts and prayers are with them now. Callynne

It would be nice and a tribute I think if there was a little something mentioned in the next WCI.....
