Dear Carving Family, Marnie Whillock, editor of Carving Magazine, has passed away this afternoon at 2:12 PM, surrounded by her family, after a long fight with cancer. Marnie will be cremated. Services will be this Friday afternoon at 3 PM at the 1st English Lutheran Church in Faribault. Marnie requested that her service be followed by a party at the Fairgrounds. Marnie is survived by her two sons Ryan and Cory. Marnie was very involved in the Faribault community organizing music festivals and wood carving events. As the first editor of Carving Magazine she dedicated herself to creating a great magazine with love and affection for all who wrote and all who read the magazine. She was blessed with a very supportive family and many friends. She enjoyed the celebration of music and singing with her beautiful voice. Marnie loved parties and requested that we have a good time at her party. Following the service, family and friends are invited to the Fair Grounds for a pot luck dinner, a night of entertaining music, refreshments and a beer garden. Memorials can be made to the Whillock family. Memorial funds will help her family with expenses. Our prayers are with the family. May God bless you Marnie, with all the love and blessings that you've given us. Joe Dillett The Carving Shop 645 E. LaSalle St. Suite 3 Somonauk, IL. 60552 |

I never had the pleasure of meeting Marnie but I did talk to her on several Carving Magazine chats. It's a shame she was taken as such a young age but it's easy to see she left a lasting mark in the carving community. God bless her and her family.

The world is a little poorer with her passing. I never met her in person but from my electronic interactions with her, she was a fine person. Our thoughts and prayers go out to her family. mikeg |

Dreadful news, such a wonderful lady with such a passion for life and carving. She will be certainly missed in the carving community and my heart goes out to her father, sons, family and co-workers at Carving Magazine. I am sure she will be organizing new carvings for the Pearly Gates with God's Blessing! Bob

I am sad to hear that! I have talked to Marnie on many many occasions, and always a sweet kind lady....she will be sorely missed! But we have the consolation as in my case never meeting her face to face, but Marnie was a sincere believing Christian and I will one day meet her......the Bible says to cry when they are born, rejoice when they die.....because where they go is paradise and althought we miss her deeply, she would not want to come back here now! My condolences to the family, but they too will see Marnie again!
