| | Losing a friend - Wayne Cribbs I received news today that my best friend and carving partner has cashed in his chips.
I met Wayne eight years ago on a mountain top while on a carving weekend.
Meeting Wayne was like finding a long-lost friend, he took a shine to me for some unknown reason.
He was a lean, lanky, Texan who was nearly killed in WWII when a fighter plane cut through the side of his ship.
He was a golden gloves champ who could make a speed-bag sing well into his seventies. Wayne always said what he thought and never sugar-coated his words.
I hadn't seen Wayne for nearly a year; sadly I thought of calling him the day before he hung up his guns, but I didn't.
I will miss him.
Excuse me, I must have something in my eye. |

| | Re: Losing a friend - Wayne Cribbs It's tough losing a friend, it leaves such an empty feeling inside. Our thoughts go out to you Rick and to his family. His carvings will always carry a reminder of him, his personality and his passion.

| | Re: Losing a friend - Wayne Cribbs Rick, he does sound like a neat guy, makes one wonder why he would befriend you? Just kidding, I am sorry for your loss, we don't find that many true friends in our lives that we can afford to lose one! |

| | Re: Losing a friend - Wayne Cribbs Sorry for your loss Rick. I'm sure sure his chips are continuing to fly in a better place. I think it's well known why he took a shine to you. We all get caught up in our busy lives, don't beat yourself up over that. You made me realize it's been over a month since I've talked to my brother. Might be a good time for all of us to set aside a few minutes, pick up the phone and give that special person a call.
