Default Leroy Milligan

Leroy was not only my mentor but also my friend. For over 30 years this man has opened his home and his heart to anyone interested in carving and he has started many in this wonderful hobby. His basement was the local carving club as well as the local carving library and his well equipped shop was always open for cutting out or roughing patterns and he always had a box or two full of cut-outs just in case you needed a quick project to work on during "meetings" (more like B.S. and snack sessions actually )

Leroy lost his long battle with cancer last weekend and will be missed by those who he touched with his quick humor and kindness.

I am sorry to hear that, besides being a friend, and a mentor, he sounds like the backbone of the local carving group......

He was not only the backbone but also the founder, "president", librarian, activities director, class scheduler, in-house sharpener, and jack-of-all-trades.

Right now the club is in limbo with nowhere to meet and I have been talking to his brother in hopes of saving the library for the club since the members helped purchase and donated most of the books and magazines. I am hoping to find a place for meetings that can also be used for book storage/library. Since Leroy had shown some of his work at the Art Center and the club does a demo for the Historical Society I am hoping that one of them has a room we can use.
