My sympathies. We had a poodle who lived until 17.5 years. I know what you are going through. We had to have our "Christie" put down due to her severe problems. It's like you have had your arm cut off.
Your pet's memories will help you.

Thanks everyone it is sure nice to have the support. I am still pretty numb I think I am ok and then I fall apart again. Just not the same not having him here but I knew that he had to go. I have always said we are kinder to our pets than to our family members. I made the choice for him I didnt want him to suffer. I am some what at peace with it but I am still hurting a lot.
Thanks again
Warmly
Colin

Oh Colin,
I am so sorry.... You did the right thing. Don't second guess yourself. I've been there too and even though you are sure you did the right thing, there's always a certain amount of guilt. We do it to ourselves...the "what if's".... You did right. It's the hardest decision to make but it's the right one.

I hope you decide to bring a new pup home.... deciding to do it all over again, is sort of a tribute to the wonderful memories you had with Midnight. They give us so much for so little in return. My sincere condolences.....

I'm sorry to hear your news Colin. A dog occupies such a big part of your life, for so many years. It brings comfort to you when you need it, and so many other things throughout each day. You have 11 years of great memories, so hold on to them. Keep the faith son, perhaps a new pup will find it's way to you to help you heal!

You know..the greatest thing God tells us is to "love" he also tells us that "the eye has not seen, ear heard, nor mind imagined the things God has for those that love him"......I believe the story of the "Rainbow Bridge" is true.....I don't believe for a minute that God would not put us together with those we loved so dearly here on earth...........take heart friends, if you know and serve Jesus....YOU WILL SEE YOU PETS AGAIN, AND ALSO YOUR FRIENDS AND RELATIVES that turned to the Lord.........God is Great, God is Faithful.....enjoy the time we have here....its very short........but oh the glory in the next room (next life)!

Colin, my belated condolences for the loss of your best friend. Many of us have had to deal with such a difficult loss. For some folks, like myself, the pain never really goes away, but things do get better. I still recall, each year, after twenty-six years the day that my Springer had to be put down.

Colin, so sorry to hear of your loss. It takes a long time to get over the loss of a treasured pet, but the memories still remain to comfort us.
Blessings~
