hughie thomasson has passed away.he was a founding member of the southern rock power band the"outlaws" songs such as "green grass and high tides" and "there goes another love song",hughie was such a fantastic guitarist singer and song writer,he disbanded the outlaws about 10 years ago to set in and play guitar with lynyrd skynyrd,he left them about 2 years ago to reform the outlaws and they we're just fixing to release a new album. last sunday hughie ate supper at home went and sat in his easy chair and died of a heart attack. i know some may wonder what this has to do with carving......nothing...that's why i posted under this topic. i was lead singer in a southern rock and blues band for about 10 years and also played guitar.due to unfortunate accidents and tragic twist i no longer play in bands wood carving has filled the creative void because i also wrote some of our songs. all of this to say i guess do what you do with a passion, and love what you do,and to let people know of hughie's passing, that may not have known,or that may have heard the songs but not who did them,it's with a heavy heart i write this cause music has always meant so much to me. sorry for the extended post "green grass and high tides forever" hughie so long brother you'll be missed

Just saw a local SR tribute band - Sundown last Sat night and they announced this. Very sad. Loved the Outlaws and Skynyrd (just saw them at Bethel Woods a couple weeks ago). We'll miss your playing and your music Hughie! :-( ChuckT |

I saw the Outlaws in concert many years ago, and loved their music. They sang a song called Cold harbor, about a Civil War battle. You of the many "diamonds".

i just saw a video for "full circle" that showed a bunch of behind the scenes footage and it really makes you smile and sad at the same time to see how full of life and fun not only him but the whole band was at that time. and then to think how in the blink of an eye everything changes, and as a musician to listen to the cool licks in the song....... at least they've been captured now for all to hear for an earthly eternally
