Default Goodbye to Jack R. McMills

I just received the news that an old friend, Brigadier General Jack R. McMills passed away......I haven't seen Jack for a number of years...we at one time worked together on a Sheriff's Dept. Jack had an amazing life, he was an enlisted man in Korea and obtained a battlefield commission.....along with 3 purple hearts and a handfull of other assorted medals.. Jack was a licensed pilot, had raced boats at one time until a crash caused a 5 vertebrae fusion job! Jack was not a carver, but he was a patron of carvers, he had a number of beautiful decoy carvings, was an avid duck hunter and attended the decoy woodcarving shows. Probably not the place to put this, but had him on my mind as I just received the notice today...I felt that he deserved at least a little "attaboy Jack" from an old friend!

Thank you Kenny! And on this Memorial Day, I want to thank all that served, living and dead, whether they died in battle or after hopefully a long fruitful life , like my friend Jack......!

Unhappy Re: Goodbye to Jack R. McMills

HEH..

how sad to hear that jack shuffled off this mortal coil (thank you Hamlet)..

i knew jack waaaaaayyy, back in about 1966 or thereabouts when he lived on alameda de las pulgas in redwood city..

my sister, ann morrow, introduced us and i went to work for jack and was working with/for jack when his race boat hit a wake or wave and went up and then back down and jack broke his back..
not good to be sitting upright on a big fuel tank when that happened..

i continued to work for jack until he sold his business (san mateo county legal service) to a jerk named ed [something]..

ed so mis-managed it that it died..
i seemed to have been the heir apparent so i picked up the pieces and created my own version and ran it for the next 20+ years..

recently, i have been wondering "what ever became of....." so many people who molded me into who i became..

jack was one of those people and i own him a debt of gratitude that i can not ever express beyond this forum entry..

SO, happy trails jack, i will remember you..

Cordially, Bill Morrow
