Chuck - thank you for posting here. I saw his name and was very touched. I always see this section and have always hoped that I would never see a name that I recognized. What a wonderful man to have lost. A real inspiration.

| Even though Cliff and I knew that we would never meet in person; we enjoyed talking to one another through the internet. First about woodcarving, then about fishing, and finally about life in general. We truly considered one another to be friends. We were able to communicate directly up until about a month ago. Although I was aware of the inevitable; I have found that one is never truly prepared for it. The knowledge that he was still here and that I was able to talk to him, even indirectly, was comforting. That is no longer possible and I feel the loss. I believe that near death experiences do give us a hint of what awaits us. Everyone who has had these experiences describes the next realm as being wonderful. Many report that although they missed their loved ones; they still regretted being pulled back into this life. I am sure that this is true of Cliff. He was in pain both physical (from cancer) and mental (from having to leave his family). Now, he is at peace. It is for those left behind to bear the pain of his loss and at the same time to be happy for him. He touched many lives some in a most profound way. Not only did he show us how to accept the inevitable; but, he inspired several members to start the medical tests that could prevent them from suffering the same fate. Cliff said that this was one of the best pieces of news that any of us gave him. The sending of carved angels to Cliff was a wonderful tribute. It was comforting to him at a time when he needed it. I wrote and told him that I would not be carving an angel, but that I would be doing a different memorial carving in his honor. I now have to get it finished. I once read that no one really dies when their memory lives on. Cliff Nelson will be remembered for many years to come. Fare well, my Friend. I am so overcome with emotions over the passing of our dear friend, Cliff Nelson aka Tucker. Cliff encouraged us all to do our best and kidded us when we were down. He leaves behind many friends here and his beloved family. Wanda

Reading of Cliff's passing today is like getting a gut-punch; you're just not ready for it. I've always enjoyed reading Cliff's posts and getting feedback or notes from him in turn. What a gem of a man. He'll be missed. Mark |

Like a lot of others here I never had the good fortune to really meet and get to know Cliff. However, through this forum I was able to gain at least some idea of just what type of person he was. It's pretty clear that he really loved his family and that they loved him. Thats the saddest part. Its also clear that he will be missed around here. God speed to you Tucker. And when you set down in the whittling section that I just know is up there tell Whitecree and the others who've gone before that we still think about you all and that we miss you.

I never met Cliff and didn't have the pleasure of reading his posts. They say that the mark of a man is the quality and quantity of his friends. Cliff must have been a great man to be remembered and mourned by so many fine people. Cliff's keyboard has been silenced, but it is sure he will live on in the memories of the many lives he touched. His family and friends will be in my prayers. Ed
