Default The carving community lost another fine carver.

Friday, Feb. 2, 2007, Mel Moose of Maiden, NC, passed away today at 2 pm.
Mel had carved most of his life since his military days. Mel started the local woodcarving club and also taught woodcarving at the local cmmunity college. for years.
He was a good friend and a great person and carver and will be greatly missed.

I didn't know the gentleman, but the hebrews have a saying something to the effect, we are all diminished at the loss of one.

I probably had 6 conversations with Mel over the years. A finer gentleman you could not find. The last time I talked with him he wasn't doing well. He will be missed!

What a way to find out....

As Brent mentioned, Mel was instrumental in establishing the Catawba Valley Woodcarvers Club in Hickory, NC. He also played a large part in promoting the art of woodcarving in the community by teaching classes locally. He will be greatly missed.
