Default Wow

What a wealth of information I stumbled into here when I decided to renew my magazine subscription online. Thank you one and all for sharing all your time and experience.

I have only been carving about a year. And I have always carved "in the round" because that is the way I see things in my mind. But after seeing the Oak Man Tutorial....I got a plank and started my first relief. And for the first time I have discovered how much fun it is to use my gouges. Most of my carving has been interpretive wildlife...with lots of power and sanding. But I love the feel of the gouges shushing through the basswood on this tutorial. I can't wait to see what else I discover on this site.

I'm a Texan and live north of the Dallas/FtWorth metroplex and am a retired chemistry teacher.

"Interpretive wildlife" - oh, how fascinating that sounds. Please show us some.
