Talking Whittlin Mike M

My name is Mike Maslyn, Whittlin Mike M. I'm 64. I've been whittlin & carving since Age 9 in Cub Scouts. My dad, M. Vince Maslyn, from East Millstone,NJ was a carver before me. I got a Boy Scout Woodcarving knife when I was 11 and carved severallarge Relief eagles and hundreds of neckerchief slides. Much later I did relief carvings in a number of furniture items for use by my family.
I did a lot of carving while stationed in Germany, Korea and Hawaii. They were mostly full round carvings. These included whales, Hawaiian dancers and other subjects. When I retired from working as an Ammunition Surveillance person in US Army, I joined Fallscities Woodcarving Guild. I am currently serving as President of that group. Still carving objects in the round, Canes and some relief carvings. I have entered carvings in the Kentucky State Fair and have won several awards there.
Looking forward to reviewing the works of others on this forum!
