Default wanted: simple wood carving patterns

Hi I'm just starting out on here. I've been looking for free carving patterns. I don't really want to pay for patterns until I get a little more experience. If anyone could help me find some simple wood carving patterns "not for engraving" that would be great!

You should also be able to check out a couple of woodcarving books at your local library. There are some for beginners which cover the different cuts you can make with your knife, caring for your tools, safety, and some beginner projects.

Also, click on the Carving Clubs link on the left side of this page, and look for a carving club in your area. If there's one nearby, you'll be able to get tips from experienced carvers, and they probably could help you out with a few patterns if you can't find any by the methods suggested. Some clubs also have group sessions that focus on a particular type of carving, and will take you through a project from beginning to end. I hope that helps. Definitely check out Gene's youtube videos and the Projects for Beginners section of the forum as well.

Stephen

Try checking out this previous thread and link on the forum. It's a great resource and there's a number of free patterns that you can get access through it.
