Default Re: Wanted to learn woodcarving

Thank you all for the welcome. I decided to pick up a small off-cut of wood from something my husband used for making shelves and have a play around to get a feel for carving. It's totally different to anything I've ever done before, but definitely great fun. I think the piece is far to small to work beyond a rough though, as it's only an inch long segment of 3x1. Still, it'll make a nice token in my medicine pouch

I do have a Dremel in the house, but I've never been too amazingly confident with hand-held power tools. I think my forte lies in hand tools and shop tools. I hope this doesn't become a limiting factor.
