Default Tuklonita

(The name is Choctaw for Two Bears) I've been rattling on about woodcarving and have not introduced myself to y'al... Sorry...
A wise "Woodbutcher" will say: "Wood warms twice... once while sawing, cutting, preparing, moving and carving... and... the chips and chunks will keep a wood stove burning most the night..."
On a hot Summer day in 1946, I was on the back stoop with dad's keyhole saw making a gun to play with... A hornet flew by and I swatted and missed with the thin saw... and was stung between the eyes... Mom said that I made several rounds of the house... screaming... I remember the day because of that Hornet... I was 6 years old and working in wood...
13 years in the US NAVY, two tours in Viet Nam and discharged 100% total and permanant disabled. Moved into the backwoods of Oklahoma, Weleetka, and will move again soon... to Wister, OK. Can't use chisels anymore so have switched to power carving. Inventor of the "THISTLE BURR CLEANER"... "SCRUVAC DUST REMOVAL SYSTEM" and the "REVVAC DUST REMOVAL SYSTEM" I carve in any wood, any subject and have peace...

Welcome aboard sailor! Great place here, lots of neat carvers to chat away with and learn from. Several other disabled carvers aboard too, so you are in good company.

Two Bears,
Welcome! I'd love to see some pictures of some of your carvings, and hear a bit about the dust removal systems and burr cleaner.

Welcome aboard! I spent a little time off the coast of SVN myself - 65, 67, 68 and 70. "It was the best of times...it was the worst of times!"
