Hello Folks:
Just to let you know how easy it is to have an accident while setting up for carving projects.

I have now been carving for about four years and making wooden hunting longbows for about 12 years.

I use both the table and band saws, well two weeks ago as I was squaring off basswood into blocks, as I turned the table saw off, without thinking I reached down to pick my block of wood, and got a wide awakening, the saw blade nicked me right on the top of my right hand ring finger ripping the top of my fingernail and some flesh.

A week ago today. as I was roughing out another project, I ripped open the top of my forefinger's knuckel,I had to have five stictches. Dumb thing about these two accidents they could have been avoided by just being aware, good thing no long lasting damage was done.

The reason I am writing about all this, bad things can happen while carving and using othe dangerous tools accociated with our craft.

is has anyone else had a carving accident besides me? Oh yes four years ago when I started carving, I sliced the palm of my hand with a DULL KNIFE.

sAFE CARVING GUYS.

Oscar .. Join the club ..

I have never had a bad carving accident .. but a small table saw took me to the hospital and 10 stitches one time ..

Several of our members on the board here have recently had carving accidents .. It can definately happen to anyone , anywhere...

If you work with power tools .. one day something is going to happen by mistake .. you just try and keep it from being too bad ..

I wish you a speedy recovery and hope it wont take you away from the carving long ..

God Bless

Gene
