Welcome Tino. There seems to be a goodmix of Power, chainsaw, and traditional hand carvers here. There is also a good mix of people who use both methods in the same project.

Welcome Tino - not a power carver myself - yet! But there are plenty here. Glad to have you around. Enjoy!

tINO,
Nice to have you join. I bought one the first of the year and just recently got around to really using it. I really like it. In fact I like it so much I bought the Ram45 to do what the foredom doesn't do. If I had the choice of one or the other I would choose the Foredom first thou as you did. They both handle wood differently but well.

Did you get more than one hand piece? Mine came with the 44T hand piece but I think I'm going to get several more hand pieces.

Yes I got the smaller slide type hand piece(#8t?) and just recently the reciprocating carver with four flexcut blades. Haven't used hardly at all yet. What little I used it though I'm thinking if your tools are sharp as they should be it doesn't take that much more effort to just "hand' carve. I'm sure with harder wood it would be benaficial. I was playing with basswood.
