Default Thanks to you all

I have enjoyed reading your forum for some time. Joined a while back, but just now have worked up the nerve to attempt a post. I would like to thank everyone here for giving so freely of their thoughts, ideas, talents and methods. Much has been learned here and the humor that goes along with it all makes it that much more fun.

Welcome Sorethum! As Greg said - the water is fine and I hope you stay to swim around in this little pool of carvers. It's by everyone joining in and contributing their thoughts and even the "dumb" question or two that makes this such a fine place to learn.

!

Appreciate all the welcomes. Joy, We live in the flat part of Texas. (southern panhandle or hi-plains) Sunsets and sandstorms are our claim to fame. At about age 5, I watched some fellows downtown whittling. Looked like a lot of fun. Went home and borrowed my grandmothers old hickory paring knife and commenced whittlin' a popsicle stick. Whacked a flap off my index knuckle and then a little scolding and bandageing took place. That is still my best scar. Since then my free time has been spent hunting, fishing, and accummulating carving tools and work holding devices. I catch myself sitting amongst all these tools and devices whittlin' over a bucket with a favorite knife, waiting for some talent to happen.

There is nothing wrong with whittlin'. Whatever keeps the passion going ! But since you have all those tools gathered, you might as well work some of the new off of them

Glad to have another Texan on board....there are several of us around.
