I have a cherry tree I that fell down last winter. It was about 30 feet high.
High,wet winds got the better of it. It was very healthy.
I now have many large and small pieces 6-8 feet long from 1-6" thick.
Before I begin any carving I would like to know the easiest way to take the bark off.
Some of the branch pieces will be made into tools.
My friend is a glass blower and cherry wood is his ideal wood to use.

All suggestions are much appreciated.

The easiest way to get bark off is to have someone else do it!

Short of that, I'd suggest you sit down with a draw knife and have at it. My experience with cherry is that the bark is pretty tight to the quick, and best shucked as soon as possible. Once dry, it's a flat out bugger to get off!

I second that suggestion. If you do not currently own a draw knife, you will be pleased that you purchased one and wonder how you managed without it. It is truly a pleasure using a sharp draw knife.

one hole in the bark
and then another few
...
You may mutter a few rude remarks...but
before you know it...no more bark
