Default I supose it's time I introduced myself.

Not much of a carver yet. Been dabbling in woodcarving for over 20 yrs, but can't say I have acomplished much more than making huge heaps of chips.
I have worked two jobs most of my life and never really put the time in it to do well. I also have had too many hobbies to concentrate on one and do it well. At 58, I am beginning to see it's time to whittle down some of my wanta's. I live in Colfax, Iowa(25 miles east of Des Moines on I80) with my wife of 37 yrs(she's a tolerant woman), daughter and two teenage grandaughters. My son and two grandchildren live about 10 blocks away. I work as a Customer Service Representative for a national Distributor.
I just finished a muzzloading rifle(built that one from a few parts and a big blank of wood) that had been on that list for 25 yrs. And now aim to concentrate more on the carving.
I have a small woodworking shop that is fairly well equiped.
I'm one of those people who knows a little about everything and not much about anything.
So as a complete novice, here goes nothing!
Jimmy Dannels

Welcome Jimmy! Hey fella, you're not sand baggin us are you? You can't have "dabbled" in wood carving for 20 years and call your self a complete novice. Well, unless you carve like me, you can't. Anyway, glad you're here.

Thanks for the welcome Guys!
Tom H. No sandbagging here, now if you get into traditional jointery, bookcases ,scrolling and frames for the wife's intarsia projects I can hold my own.
Kenny, around 1900 my family came to Iowa from SE Kansas, I understand there is still a branch of the clan around Altoona & Fredonia Ks.
Dave I love your site, especially the canes and sticks. As for Babbling, since I earn my living talking to people and trying to solve their problems I think I can hold my own in that category too.
Corey, I noticed the address of your woodworking blog last Saturday and figured that number had to be a Zip Code, so had guessed you were in Council Bluffs. Another nice site.
