I'm new to this....and my computer skills are more "beginner" than my carving skills.....but I finally uploaded a picture to the gallery. It's under Woodspirits. I am so happy to be joining this community to learn and grow. It's nice that people want to share with and nuture newbies. I'm also new to being part of a message board......so I guess this will work? Splinter |

Splinter, It's fantastic! I believe that I can speak for myself, Chris and Shawn is saying that when someone, as you have, does such a great job for one of our books it's an absolute thrill! And welcome to the forum. Susan |

Welcome aboard Splinter. Cool Greenman! Butternut is a great wood to carve, is native to the NorthEast US and along the Maine/New Brunswick border in Canada. Not sure in what amounts you can get it, but Chipping Away has some offered. Bob

Oh, thanks so much to you all! This is very encouraging!!! That was done with a poplar board I got from the lumber mill. Now I will try some of the leads I got for butternut......and decide what to do next (that's the hard part).....so much to do & so little time.........
