Default Stop Cuts.

Hello People.
I need a little help. Being a firm believer in never going past a term you do not fully understand I find I am a little vague on 'Stop cuts.' Would any member do me the favour of defining this term please?
Thank you; Bobbo.

You make a vertical cut in the wood along a pattern line (stop cut). When you then make a shallow slicing cut towards the vertical cut to trim away some wood, the blade will "stop" cutting when it hits the vertical cut, instead of slicing too far into your wood. Try it.

A stop cut is an incision across the grain to limit the extent of later wood removal. It is especially common in chip or relief carving.

It was a happy day for me when I stumbled upon this forum! Thank you Claude and Pallin, and thank you moderater for pointing me at other threads on 'stop cuts'. I found I had been using stop cuts but did not know the term.
