Thanks everyone for the warm welcome!

Simplyme; we'll have to connect at some point; let me know what meeting/clubs you go to

Hi Ho Sliver; read many of your posts so far; and thanks for the tip...I'm actually now in the market for a great glove for carving - with protection as first priority - and then dexterity next...I heard to go to Walmart in the fishing seciton...but I'm also looking online - eBay and other sites - ranging from $8 to $20-something... not sure what to get; Kevlar or steel mesh? any feedback would be greatly appreciated.

Scooter; thanks for the tip on Nora Hall...I know I've seen/heard the name around; I'll be sure to look it up ... any other instructional videos/sites, please let me know - thanks a million!

Terry; I'll be sure to check into those clubs - I had no idea there were so many in NY

Big Dave; I HEAR THAT! keep rockin'

Ron T; thanks for the kind words; I could use all the help I could get...yes, as noted above, I'm now in the market for a good glove; any suggestions?

tomrsey; yes, I'll have to take some pic's...as soon as I do I'll post them. thanks for commenting.

THANKS AGAIN ALL FOR THE WARM WECOME - ANY ALL FEEDBACK IS GREATLY APPRECIATED!

I too have had a few deep cuts too my hand.....now I make sure that I wear a carving glove ......the only cut I have had on my hand ...is a poke straight into the glove ...that is not as bad as a long deep cut with meat missing.... and bone showing ...and a lot of pain......now when I even just think of carving without a glove ....I get Ozzie feelings in my stomach......and I get vivid pictures in my mind of not being able carve any more because of a deep cut......I do not carve without a glove..it may be hard to get used to....but I do not carve without a glove period.

Jim

If you put the federal government in charge of the Sahara Desert , in five years there'd be a shortage of sand.
