Carve one each of all the pins that have been posted.
Go to my web site and carve one each of all the Santas you see.
Go to Lynn's web site and carve his bottle stoppers.
That should keep you busy for a couple months...

| | Re: slump Hi Walt,
I know the feeling, well, kinda. When I stop carving, even for just a couple of days or a week, like I just did, I can't get back to it easilky. It's like there's a wall up between me and my carvings. It's very frustrating and I waste a lot of time sitting and just staring at my carving.
My suggestion is you just pick up a block of wood and start cutting. Just look through the gallery or view the tutorials.
Good luck getting back in the saddle. |

| | Re: slump Don't feel bad, I have been in a slump for 6 months or so! Can't get up the desire to carve anything! Have done a couple of little santa ornaments only because I don't want to get caught at the ornament swap empty handed lol...if you come up with any ideas on this, let me know too!! |

| | Re: slump Can't think of what to carve or just don't feel like carving anything?
To think of things to carve, think of who you'd like to carve something for! A child, grandson or daughter, wife, girlfriend or both? Then just make them something you have never tried before ....... a Celtic knot, an animal shape, a flower, and make a necklace or pin from it. Or carve a scene or a portrait or a cartoon, or ...!
Just a suggestion.

| | Re: slump Quit screwin around - Get up - and get your butt in there and DO IT!!! as my Dad would say.
I must admit I sometimes get that way. When I do I just go sit in front of an unfinished piece and look at it. Most of the time I adventually pick up a tool to just change or add something and before I know it it's been a hour and I got something done. Maybe what you've been doing is not challanging enough? I know when I've gone beyond my reach I wake up in the early in the morning eager to get to the garage and get started again. Peace.

| | Re: slump Maybe thats my problem, maybe I need "unfinished" pieces laying around lol....I don't, I start one, I finish it. I pickup a chunk of wood, stare at it, take a knife and make a little cut off the corner, put it down and go do something else....? Maybe its the computer, | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
