| | Re: Shipley Woodcarving Hi, Mike,
I have two of your books and love them. .....after using the band saw on a piece.....what do you use to complete the rough out to get it closer to the shape? A "wood hog" or just a large bit? Jo |

Thanks and glad you like the books. After finishing with the band saw I use a sanding disc to round off the unwanted edges. It is a 6x48 belt with a 9" disc, I use a 60grit disc. You have to be familiar with the design of the piece so you don't sand away the wrong edge, you will be surprised at the amount of unwanted wood you can get rid of. For the most of my carving I use roughouts that are run on a duplicator. mike |

| | Re: Shipley Woodcarving Mike,
I just want to thank you for writing Woodcarving the Country Bear. I get great enjoyment out of carving the different patterns, and I am creating different combinations and variations of your patterns, and then carving them in different sizes. Thanks again. | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
