royday, what kind of carving are you trying first?

Five miles from Ruskington. Not far. My wife has been there a couple of times, but I have not made it yet. Hoping to do so soon. They visited our side of the pond last summer.

Hi, I've started relief carving a back for an octagonal seat round a tree in a village near here.Different beginners are carving a backrest each. Each one will have a different theme, mine will be THE LINCOLNSHIRE POACHER. These panels are in English oak..Regards royday

Royday, that sounds like a great project. I haven't done any relief carving, but am scheduled to begin a class next Sunday.

We have a towel with the Lincolnshire Poacher on it with the lyrics to the song, and a Lincolnshire Imp door knocker.

I love the project. If you could keep us posted with progress and some pictures that would be great!!
