Default Retry / GaryMc

Thought I would throw my hat in the ring here again,

I am Gary McDaniel, a 54 year old Safety Manager, woodworker, carpenter. I was born and raised in Hot Springs Ark, and for the last ten years lived in Decatur AL. I have a wife and three kids (12 yrs, 22yrs, 32 yrs) and on grandson 14 mos. old.

I have been carving off and on for about 15 years, with gaps of several years in between. I just started carving again in November and decided to get serious about my carving. What I do know about carving is mostly self taught, with some help form carving books.

I like to carve relief, characters, some in the round, eagles, santas, ornaments and have lately started on some wood spirits.

I just put up a quick and simple web-site to display some of the carvings I have done, (most are gone as presents and the like) and will soon put up about 7-8 more that I have done in the last few weeks. Take a look if you would like to.

I am fairly new to the board but have enjoyed it bunches, there are some great carvers here and friendly to boot. And they are great about helping out where ever they can!

Welcome Gary,

You have some nice work on your pages. The eagle relief on the gunstock is beautiful.

Yes, I agree -- nice work. My favorite is the Maple Leaf Trivet, then the Uncle Sam cane segment, then the folds in Mary's robe.
Aren't photos fun?

Hello Callynne,
Thank you! Maybe one day (if I live long enough) I will be doing as good work as you do!
