Default I put my hope to you in the states!

Hi there!

As a new member I hope that you will be able to help me...

I'm a swedish guy looking for carvings that my grandfather made in between the 50:th to the late 70:s in the north of Sweden (Lapland area)

I know that he sold quite a number of these carvings to american tourists that went by train between Sweden and Norway.

So my humble question to you is... do you know of any of his sculptures that went over sea?
If so, please let me know!
I'm first of all trying to get photos of as many as possible. But if anyone is willing to sell one, please get in contact with me!!!

I will try to post a photo of two of his works.
It's always showing lappish people or animals, carved out of birch, a little bit ruff texture and treated with linen oil.

They are marked (carved) with the signature BJ at the bottom.

If you got any questions or maby a good idea for me to enhance my search in the states, just let me know.
Many thanks in advance
/Anders Jonsson

this may sound foolish but i see alot of old carvings on Ebay. people find them after thier parents or grand parents die and put them up for sale. you may try looking there.

That was my first thought, put wood carvings on ebay and try another search with his name. Can't hurt

Ebay is a good idea.

You can save a number of searches, and set it so that you are sent an email whenever an item is added that matches a search criteria (only do this for narrow searches, eg 'BJ'.

Create and save different searches for 'wood figure', 'wooden figure', 'scandinavian carving' etc etc.

Thanks for your concern!
The thing is that I have been trying Ebay for the last two years without any luck other then on the swedish site connected to Ebay (tradera.se)

It's almost never any lappish wooden sculptures at all for sale at Ebay :-(
So my idea was that you mabe know of any maketplace among the american websites that buy and sell these kind of art? What would you call it, etnic?

what is the best auction sites for this kind of stuff exept Ebay?
