SORRY, I wasn;t thinking . Perhaps if you come across a file you could sharpen a hacksaw blade. Just trying to be helpful

Don't feel lonely, Dogfish. I am a newbie and I have the same problems. I actually bit my tongue and bought a Warren interchangeable set from them just to try. What I found out was that my heart pounds every time I have to change the blades like I was gonna cut myself. Also, I ended up spending a lot of time switching blades! So, I called Rick up, talked to his wife, Theresa, and ended up with a beginner's set that has most of what I need to make chips, plus something to protect me, along with a gouge to make spoons. I returned my Warren set to pay for all this and still had change in my pocket. I have been using my tools for a couple of months and I am glad I did what I did.

Thanks, Robert and Meipo.

Rob, it's alright, no need to apologize, I'm just curious as to what I could use to sharpen a utility knife/hacksaw blade. I can get my paws on a file no problem. Would I use that for shaping it, too?

Meipo - thank you. You've just solved my problem. As soon as I can afford it, I'll call up Rick and buy a set of tools.

Thanks again to both of you, I really appreciate any tips you've got.

look up "scary sharp" method of sharpening, start with that. 4 grits of sandpaper to start 400, 800, 1200 and 2000 and a leather strop.....go lower with the grit if you need to...if you want to make a blade out of a piece of hacksaw or jigsaw blade, start with 80 grit and keep moving up.
