| | Passion Number 3, Carving! Hello everybody. I love carving. Like my title says, It really is my third passion. Reading and chess are the other two. Since chess is such a big part of my life, my carving gets neglected way too much. However, I'm trying to remedy that.
For my carving I use only a pocket knife. I have a lot more fun doing it that way.
Anyways, Hello!

Well, jason since you move chess you should carve yourself a chess set if you haven't already.

| | Re: Passion Number 3, Carving! Thanks! Carving a chess set is actually one of my goals. Right now I'm trying to decide what type of wood to use for it. I'm thinking the last half I carve is going to look much nicer than the first half I carve. |

For the board well that another story...your choice.

Did you see the article in the last issue of WCI on chess sets? That should get your carving juices going and your imagination fired up. I too like to play chess. Was on the chess team in HS with friends who were WAY more into it and WAY better than I. I usually got crushed. But I became decent enough to hold my own in casual games with intermediates.
So - only a pocket knife eh? Well, don't worry . . . we'll cure you of that real soon. Unless Lynn get's a hold of you. He uses his "ol reliable" (a box cutter). But me - I subscribe to the "never met a tool I didn't like" philosophy. ;-)
Anyway - welcome. Have fun and post pics when you can.
