WOW! We welcomed our 2,000 member on this site today. Seems like only yesterday that we were just a handful of old carving friends visiting. Now we've got friends all across the globe. Awesome. Carvers helping carvers...it's don't get any better than this.

Wow, it looks like we welcomed our 2000th member to this board today. Seems like only yesterday that we were just a handful of ole carving friends chatting away about our love of carving and all the things we've learned along the way. Now there's 2,000 of us. Hard to believe! Awesome...totally awesome! Thanks to all for making it happen.

Donna, I took the liberty of merging your threads into one since they are the same topic.

I agree that this is a momentus moment for the forum. I have been a member and participant in other woodcarving lists. But, not to the extent of WCI.

This forum came along at the right time, with the right administrators and the right format. I have to be pretty busy, or away from a computer, to not take at least a quick look at the new posts on a daily basis.

Thanks, Paul. There was a glitch and the first thread didn't post so I backed up and redid it. Go figure! And I agree about the quality of this forum--it's well managed and it's evolved so well...a great tribute to the dedication and quality of folks who frequent it. I feel the same--I may put in a 12-14 hour workday, but usually manage to do a quick read of the day's posting so I can keep up with everyone.

Whitecree, did you not receive your free goodies...? I'm pretty sure they were mailed...errr...or something! Actually, I think we're all winners in this case.

I believe we had around 2,400 or so members early this year (February), but WCI "cleaned" up the board to drop that number back down to around 1,100. Basically we have gained 1,300 new potential posters in 8 months.

The "bad" thing about so many new members is that about 40-50/month are spammers. That's the one's I know about. BobD may get more than I can count.

Fortunately, we catch most before they post - or at least get rid of them quickly after they post.

Regardless, we do have a great group of folks here!
