| | Old Newby Hi All; Just wanted to introduce myself. Self is a retired old fart learning a new art form, "chip carving". Have done about 3 wedding plates and have absolutely fallin' in love with this artform. It dovetails nicly with my first love called Rosemaling (about 25 years worth). Any help, suggestions or guide posts would be gratefully accepted. I've gottin' most of the books on chip carving but like everyone else am always hungering for more info.
I live in Savannah. Georgia and would like to hear from anyone in the vicinity.....Thanks , Jim |

| | Re: Old Newby Welcome to the forum Jim. One suggestion, be careful about using certain words when typing threads or responses. "Fart" is okay but "Old" is definitely a No-No! |

| | Re: Old Newby Those are terrific! The table top is my favorite with the wood grain as the background. The hoozier is a very successful piece. Very impressive for a first. I'm just learning about all the different styles of rosemaling. My mother did some when I was very young, and I still have a desk she did for me.
Thanks for posting the pictures, and I'll look forward to seeing more.
