Cool 'nuther New Guy....

Hi, I just 'joined up' on this board today and am looking forward to readin', learnin', and whittlin' a lot more than I have already done.

I have some experience at wood carving, having learned a lot from my Dad, who was a life-long carver. I have done a few birds, one or two bears or other animals, and am now working on bust-type carving of my daughter when she was about 10 years old (it's not too bad, but did you ever try to carve braided hair? !!)

Anyway, hope to learn a lot from you guys (and gals).

I'm getting the braided hair carved very, very slowly... have to figure out which strands go under and which go over, as well as how the hair comes into the initial braid bunch. I can see it on the photos that I took of my daughter years ago, so that is a bit of help, but it really is hard to figure it out in 3-dimensions from a 2-dimension photo.

I need to figure out how to upload photos onto this website... I'd like to put some up showing some of the carvings I've already done. Gotta figure out how to do that...

Welcome Jerald, looking for those pictures to see. As for the hair braid , here s a little hint that helped me a lot with a biker dude, ( get some shoe laces and do some braiding ) its easyer to do when you can SEE IT ..
