Yes ... the wonderful world of learning about your tools. Well lets put it this way....I knew that I was getting better at sharpening when the knife went through the sculpture and into my finger. Of coarse I am mad, not about my finger, but the fact I broke the statue. At the doctors waiting for stitches ... I was awe when they used their medical super glue! Then my new Foredom ran over the sculpture and down my arm...talk about road rash! my adult children thought I was racing down the mountain in my wheelchair again....and my husband yelling, " What in heck did you do to yourself this time!"...I said "Oh, it is nothing!" Seems I learned that quote from dad when he cut off his fingers with the saw..... yes we can blame on the rain,... the dog, the cats,... what ever...
Pictures posted, well I can, but they are copies of other peoples work,... as I am in training for carving, but prehaps I can dig something up.......
Oh yea the ear thing comes from Van Gogh ...(yes,.. I had to look it up,.. via the net...I hated art history). Anyway he cuts off his ear (shaving????), painted himself twice without the ear, then goes into the mental hospital. It come from a saying that artist are torture souls..
what ever Di
