Thank you all so much for your input. I am well on my way to making my Christmas carving wish list (although I have even more options to choose from after hearing from all of you - HA!). It is nice to know there are so many of you out there monitoring and offering advice. I have felt very welcomed here. I guess I'll need to be "moving into" the Beginner section now that I have introduced myself. I hope all of you will keep an eye out for my future posts. Oh, Mom and Dad have loaned out thier digital camera, so no personal picture of my cypress knee Santa tonight. However (I am now going to brag - on my carving AND on my dad), an image of my carving was published in a local magazine. They did a feature article about my dad called, "Ho Ho Coco!". It isn't easy to get all the way to the article, but for those of you up to the challenge, here goes: 1. Go to www.inregister.com 2. Click on "READ THIS ISSUE ONLINE" 3. Go to page 18 for the beginning of the article, look for the picture of my carving on page 19 Sorry, until the digital camera returns, that's all I've got... Again, thanks to all and to all a good night! |

Welcome to the forum from another Louisiana carver (well, formally from West Monroe but, now living in Texas & planning to move back there soon). Glad to have you aboard and looking forward to seeing more of your carvings. It looks like you got a great start with the cypress knee santa! Jerry |

Thanks Hi Ho! I emailed the author of the article this morning and she sent me a copy of the picture. Now, if I can only figure out how to attach it to my forum ID... Let's see if I can manage it... Claire |

Very nice carving. I have yet to even attempt to carve anything yet. I can only hope that when I do, it will be as good as your first.
