You have "Limewood" there...is the same as our basswood I understand .....basswood is one of my favorites...that and butternut. Cottonwood is prone to splitting when it dries and it chips pretty bad...the native americans use the cottonwood root to carve their kachina dolls...I had 5 acres of cottonwood trees in colorado, but didn't use them to carve...used them for firewood....(not much good for that either lol) Dave

Dave (Hi Ho), I have no idea to which wood you refer by "Limewood" - my dictionary won't help. Do you know the official name of it please? I come to agree about cottonwood...unfortunately because the area I live is surrounded by that.

Woodartist, you have to wait a little. I will never post a carving that is not satisfying to me. Bearing in mind I have help only by books... (DVD little more expensive for me, live tutorials out of question here).
