| | Newbie from Louisiana Hello all. I am from Baton Rouge, Louisiana. I have been carving for about 2-3 yrs, but I have loved to draw since I was 12. I was introduced to carving as a boy by my dad who also loved to carve, but I lacked the patience then. Now after having 2 boys, I suddenly find the patience (and sometimes look forward to the sneak escape to the workshop). I was amazed at how much of my Dad's lessons stuck in my head. (I'm sure he's looks down from heaven in amazement too). Parent if you seem like you're talking to a brick wall trying to teach your children, think again. The lessons are sinking in whether they kn ow it or not, and will surface when they most need them. I started carving neckerchief slides, then walking sticks, now I carve crucifixes and wine stoppers as well. |
