Default Newbie here from Texas

Hi , I am a very new carver. Started in May of this year. After watching videos from Mr. Messer and Mr.Doughty, I'm beginning to learn how just a little. Of course I'll never be a good as those two and many others But here's hoping.
One thing I do know , golfballs and wood carving is addictive. I'm hooked.
Here are a couple of carvings. Would love your conments please. Good and bad. Cause I need help. Thanks GinnytooU

Hi Ginnytoou
Welcome to the group. I like both of your carvings although I like the bottlestopper the best, He reminds me of the oldtime Barbers with that hair and Mustache. Did you use Lynn's method of cutting a bottle neck for your bottlestopper?

Larry, on cutting the beer bottles . Yes I did in a way use Lynn's method. The one thing I do different is to use hot and cold water to break the glass. Works better than a match and safer. The only thing you need to watch out for is when the glass breaks it just falls off. Better to have something in the sink to catch it ( a bowl full of water ) so the top doesn't break when it hits the bottom of the sink. Worked with stained glass for 15 years, no expert but using the water method is great. Nice clean break too. Ginny
