Default Newbie to the group

Hello to all. I'm still very new to carving. Only fiddling on and off for maybe a year and a half. I have so much to learn. Unfortunately my carving time is pretty limited and I am contantly hunting for free patterns and especially so tutorials online... Haven't the time to go to a class and so I plod along on my own. Have had a few things come out decent given my time in the saddle but have huge aspirations. Anyways. Thanks so much for having me and always open to suggestions and tips. Jim

Welcome to this message board,
There's free patterns available here from the "Carving Community" section to the left of this section. I recommend a subscription to Wood Carving Illustrated--good help, good patterns with step-by-step instruction, and great motivation.

And there's good help available here, with tutorials.

Welcome, well you've been carving half year longer than I (mostly relief carving). As you have noticed we have many fine carver's and burner's on these forums and you'll learn a lot. I sure have and I'm so grateful for them all and their help to me. Just ask their waiting! It's the will that is important everything else will fall into place with practice.

Welcome aboard Jim. Many of us have never taken a class or instruction, isolated as we are. Never stopped us from enjoying carving for many years.

Good luck in all your carving projects.

Bob
