Default Newbie

Hello Everyone, from the great state of Montana, U.S.A. My name is Al "Ike" Ickes. I live in Columbus, Mt. and I have carved on and off since 1995. I am a power carver. My favorite mediums are basswood, butternut, myrtle, cottonwood bark, cottonwood root, cedar and found drift wood. Most of the found wood comes from the Yellowstone River approx. 1/2 mile from my house. And if I could understand how to upload pictures I would place some on this site. I also would like to say Hello and Welcome to Roberto from Italy. Your English is just fine. Let your feelings for what you do be expressed in your carvings. Which I see you have a good start in. Best to you all in your carvings. Ike

Welcome Ike,
Glad you posted and glad you're into power carving. Bob D (our fearless leader) posted a thread that tells how to post photos. What's myrtle like to carve?

Welcome Ike , good to have you with us and thanks for telling us about yourself . I work with a lot of the woods you do to but not lucky enough to be close to the Montana gold (cottonwoodbark) as you are
