Re: Newbie If they're sharp and you can make chips then you've got most of the tools you need. The biggest indicator of a need for a tool or the adequacy of tools that you already have is when you're working on a project and you're dissatisfied with the performance of a particular tool or the outcome of your efforts. Grab a copy of WCI and send away to Little Shavers, Smoky Mountain Woodcarvers or one of the many other carving suppliers advertising in it and get yourself a catalog. Then compare the tools that you have with what is available. You can also give these folks a call and they'll be happy to answer any questions that you have. As you've probably read in another thread Little Shavers even offers sharpening services.
