Hello all,
As my message indicated I am new to scroll sawing and would like to know a few things. First of all I have a Dremel scroll saw that uses 51/2" blades.
I was wondering are there certain speeds for particular thickness or types of wood? Also, does the wood holder down thing have to be tight down against the wood or like a1/16" above the wood?
Any tips would be greatly appreciated.

the thicker the wood the faster you need to go, and I don't clamp my holder down tight, makes it too hard to move the wood...but you do have to hold the wood down against the table or it will jump up and down.

Just to add a note to Hi Ho's comments.... I've had a lot of success and satisfaction with the skip tooth blades.
