Default A New Old Feller

Hello Folks,

I tried to post this earlier, but not yet sure what I'm doing, so hopefully this won't show up twice.

After all the times I've browsed over various websites, all relating to wood carving, I'm surprised this one was overlooked, or I never saw it. Reading over some of the messages, it seems this is a pretty nice place to be.

A friend got me interested in wood carving about 5 years ago, as he creates spectacularly beautiful ducks, but I somehow grew fond of carving song birds. I've also dabbled some in relief carving and pyrographics. All in all, working with and creating something from a blank piece of wood brings me hours of enjoyment.

I'm certain I will gain much knowledge from the group of people here, and glad to be a part of the community.

Rick

Hi Rick,

Welcome to our little corner of the web. I am new to wood carving but have love working with wood all my life. I find this message board to be a wonderful resource, experience out the kazoo! Talent even beyond the experience. And the neatest thing is the open willingness to share. I think everyone here recognizes that we all were neophites in the area of wood carving at one point in time. Some of us have hacked away at pieces of wood, some have even turned out some pretty decent work. My Dad and I loved to make bookcases for personal use and for family friends as the need might arise, and as I recall each one was unique in design. Kinda like every carving...y'know what I mean?

Oh well I really didn't mean to be this long winded...LOL!

Again welcome Rick!

Chahlie

Welcome Rick I would just be repeating all of the other posts so I will keep it simple. Glad to have you with us remember the question you dont ask is the only dumb question. Plus you may have some advice you could offer us.
